A new home for Emily Paige & Co.

A short note on what to expect from the Journal. And why it's here.

When people find out I sell real estate, the questions tend to sound the same, no matter how well I know them. What's the market doing? Is it a good time to buy? What's Bay View like right now? Should we wait? I answer them one conversation at a time. This Journal is my attempt to answer them a little more publicly, and a little more usefully, so that when you land here you get a real answer instead of a headline.

What you’ll find here

A few things, on a regular rhythm:

Neighborhood guides. Bay View, the East Side, Riverwest, Wauwatosa, Shorewood, Whitefish Bay, Walker's Point, further out. What each place actually feels like, what you pay to be there, and who tends to be happy after moving in.

Answers to the questions buyers and sellers ask. The ones you're embarrassed to ask. The ones you didn't know to ask. The ones that only get interesting when you're actually mid-transaction.

Honest market takes. Not just what the numbers are, but what they mean for someone thinking about their next move, next month or next year.

Occasional love letters to Milwaukee. Because I write those anyway, over on Instagram as mke diaries. This city keeps giving me things to notice.

Why now

Two things. First, greater Milwaukee is having a moment. More people moving in. More people quietly re-shuffling where in the metro they want to be. It's a good time to have somewhere honest to point them.

Second, buying or selling a home is one of the most consequential decisions most people will make, financially and emotionally. And it's often made in a hurry, in a market that isn't designed to slow anyone down. I'd rather do the slowing down out here, in advance, so that by the time we're on the phone you already know how I think.

Where to start

If you're thinking about a move, or wondering if you should be, the fastest way to start is the questionnaire. It helps me understand your situation before we ever get on a call, which makes the call much more useful. Or you can just reach out directly.

Otherwise, come back here. New posts land on the regular. And if there’s something you wish someone would just write plainly about, tell me, and I probably will.
